Frequently asked questions
Finding the right fit
Which boat cover fits my boat?
The easiest way to find the correct Oceansouth Boat Cover is to use our Find Your Boat Cover selector.
Start by selecting your boat brand, model and setup. If we have a cover specifically designed for your boat, the selector will help you find the appropriate option.
Before ordering, always open the product's Boat Cover Fitting Guide and check your boat against the Overall Fabric Measurement diagram. This is particularly important if your boat has accessories such as a Bimini, trolling motor, bait board, rocket launcher or other equipment that changes the overall dimensions.
If your boat is not listed in the drop-down menu, don't worry. Select the boat style that most closely matches your boat from our Boat Cover range, such as a Runabout, Bowrider, Centre Console, T-Top or other suitable style.
Then follow the Boat Cover Fitting Guide on that product page. Measure the overall fabric length and width over the highest points and accessories, rather than relying only on the boat's advertised length and beam.
Once you have your measurements, compare them with the sizing chart to determine which cover provides the most suitable fit.
Tip: Always measure your actual boat before ordering. Boats of a similar length can require different cover sizes depending on their shape, console, windscreen and fitted accessories.
Do you make a custom-fit cover for my boat model?
Possibly! The easiest way to check is to use our Find Your Boat Cover selector:
https://oceansouth.com/en-au/pages/boat-covers
Enter or select your boat brand and model to see whether Oceansouth has a Custom Boat Cover available for your specific boat.
If your boat is listed, the Custom Boat Cover has been designed around the standard factory configuration of that particular model. Keep in mind that aftermarket accessories or modifications, such as trolling motors, Biminis, bait boards or other equipment, may affect the fit.
If your boat isn't listed, don't worry. Browse our Classic Semi-Custom and Universal Boat Cover ranges and select the boat style that most closely matches your boat.
From there, follow the Boat Cover Fitting Guide on the product page and measure your boat using the Overall Fabric Measurement diagram. Make sure you measure over the highest points and accessories and compare those measurements with the sizing chart before ordering.
Always use the selector and fitting guide rather than relying on the boat's advertised length alone, as boats of similar lengths can have very different shapes and configurations.
Should my boat's length include the outboard motor?
It depends on the type of Oceansouth Boat Cover you are selecting and whether you want the outboard motor included underneath the cover.
For our Custom Boat Covers, the outboard motor is not included in the cover. These covers are designed around the standard factory configuration of the specific boat model, with the outboard remaining outside the cover.
If you would like the cover to extend over and include your outboard motor, you'll need to select a suitable cover from our Classic Boat Cover range.
Use our Find Your Boat Cover selector to start:
https://oceansouth.com/en-au/pages/boat-covers
Choose the Classic cover style that best matches your boat, then click the Boat Cover Fitting Guide on the product page.
When measuring, don't simply add the motor length to the advertised length of your boat. Follow the Overall Fabric Measurement instructions and measure the fabric path from approximately 10–15 cm below the bow, over the highest points of the boat and any accessories, and continue over the outboard motor to approximately 10–15 cm below where you want the cover to finish.
You should also take the Overall Fabric Width measurement over the widest/highest points of the boat and any accessories.
Compare these measurements with the sizing chart for your chosen Classic Boat Cover before ordering. This gives you a much more accurate indication of the required cover size than using the boat's advertised hull length alone.
Will the cover fit my boat with a bait board, rod holders or rails?
Accessories such as bait boards, rod holders, rails, rocket launchers, trolling motors and other raised fittings can significantly change the amount of fabric required to cover your boat.
Our Custom Boat Covers are designed around the boat's standard factory configuration. They are intended to fit the boat as it originally leaves the factory, so aftermarket accessories or modifications may prevent a close-fitting Custom Cover from fitting correctly.
For boats with additional or raised accessories, we generally recommend selecting a suitable cover from our Classic Semi-Custom Boat Cover range, which provides more flexibility when choosing a size.
Start with our Find Your Boat Cover selector:
Select the boat style that most closely matches your boat, then open the Boat Cover Fitting Guide on the relevant product page.
Follow the Overall Fabric Measurement instructions rather than relying only on your boat's advertised length and width. Measure the fabric path over the highest and widest points of the boat, including any bait boards, rod holders, rails or other accessories that will remain underneath the cover.
For the length, measure from approximately 10–15 cm below the bow, over the highest fittings and accessories, to approximately 10–15 cm below the stern. Take the width measurement in the same way, from approximately 10–15 cm below the gunwale on one side, over the highest and widest fittings, to approximately 10–15 cm below the opposite gunwale.
Then compare your measurements with the Overall Fabric Measurement chart to select the appropriate cover size.
Important: Two boats with the same hull length can require completely different cover sizes depending on their consoles, windscreens and accessories, which is why taking the overall fabric measurements before ordering is so important.

Can a boat cover fit over an upright bimini or T-top?
Yes, but you need to select a cover specifically designed to accommodate the additional height.
For larger boats where the Bimini or T-Top will remain upright while the boat is covered, we recommend:
- Jumbo Boat Covers for boats with raised Biminis
- T-Top Boat Covers for boats fitted with T-Tops
Once you've selected the appropriate cover style, open the Boat Cover Fitting Guide on the product page and follow the Overall Fabric Measurement instructions.
Do not simply use your boat's advertised length and beam. You need to measure the actual fabric path over the boat and its highest and widest points, including the upright Bimini or T-Top and any other accessories that will remain underneath the cover.
For the Overall Fabric Length, measure from approximately 10–15 cm below the bow, following the contour over the highest points of the boat, Bimini or T-Top and other accessories, through to approximately 10–15 cm below the stern.
For the Overall Fabric Width, measure from approximately 10–15 cm below the gunwale on one side, up and over the highest and widest points of the Bimini or T-Top, and down to approximately 10–15 cm below the opposite gunwale.
Then compare both measurements with the Overall Fabric Measurement chart in the fitting guide to select the appropriate size.
Important: A standard Custom Boat Cover is designed around the boat's factory configuration and generally isn't intended to accommodate an upright Bimini, T-Top or other large raised aftermarket accessories. For these setups, choosing the appropriate Classic-style cover and measuring the complete boat and accessories is essential.
Always measure the actual boat before ordering, as two boats with the same hull length can require very different cover sizes depending on the height and width of their Bimini, T-Top and other equipment.
Can I use the boat cover while trailering?
The boat covers are trailerable. When towing, ensure the rope or strap within the hem is tightened securely so the cover hugs the hull of the boat, and make sure all supplied tie-down straps are correctly fitted and tightened.
For long-distance highway travel, we always recommend adding a couple of additional straps over the top of the cover. This helps minimise wind flapping and movement, reducing wear and helping extend the life of the cover.
If there are any areas where the cover is under additional stress from fittings, sharp edges or accessories underneath, we recommend adding extra padding or protection between the cover and the contact point. A piece of fabric, foam or pool noodle can work well to reduce rubbing and help prevent premature wear.
Will a custom cover fit an older version of my boat model?
Our Custom Boat Covers are designed for the specific boat models on our website, based on the boat's original factory specifications.
Start by using our Find Your Boat Cover selector to check whether your exact boat is listed:
https://oceansouth.com/en-au/collections/boat-covers
Select your boat brand and model and review the available cover options. If your exact model or generation isn't listed, don't assume that a Custom Cover for a newer version will fit.
Also remember that Custom Boat Covers are designed around the boat's standard factory configuration. If you've added accessories such as a trolling motor, bait board, rod holders, rails, Bimini or other equipment that requires additional fabric, the Custom Cover may no longer fit correctly.
For older boats, modified boats or boats with additional accessories, we recommend exploring our Classic Semi-Custom Boat Cover range.
Choose the Classic cover style that most closely matches your boat, then select the Boat Cover Fitting Guide on the product page. Follow the Overall Fabric Measurement instructions, measuring over the highest and widest points of the boat and any accessories that will remain underneath the cover.
Compare your Overall Fabric Length and Width with the sizing chart rather than relying only on the boat's advertised hull length.
This gives you much more flexibility when your boat isn't listed in our Custom Cover selector or differs from the original factory configuration.
What if my boat is not listed in the cover selector?
If your exact boat make or model isn't listed in our Boat Cover Selector, don't worry — you may still be able to find a suitable cover from our Classic Semi-Custom Boat Cover range.
Browse our Boat Cover range here: Boat covers
Use the Boat Cover Selector to choose the boat style that most closely matches your boat, such as a Runabout, Bowrider, Centre Console, Cabin Cruiser, T-Top or other available style.
Once you've found the closest match, open the product page and click the yellow Boat Cover Fitting Guide button.
Follow the video or written instructions to take your Overall Fabric Length and Overall Fabric Width measurements. These measurements follow the actual path the cover needs to take over your boat, rather than simply using the boat's advertised length and beam.
Make sure you measure over the highest and widest points, including any accessories that will remain underneath the cover, such as windscreens, consoles, folded Biminis, trolling motors, bait boards, rod holders or rails.
Once you have your measurements, compare them with the Overall Fabric Measurement sizing chart on the product page to select the most appropriate cover size.
Important: Don't choose a cover based on boat length alone. Two boats with the same overall hull length can require different cover sizes depending on their shape, height, width and accessories.
What is the difference between a custom, Classic and Universal boat cover?
Custom Boat Covers
Our Custom Boat Covers are specifically designed to fit the boat makes and models listed on our website, based on their original factory specifications.
They provide a tailored fit for the boat rolled off the factory line. Any aftermarket accessories or modifications that require additional fabric, the custom cover will not fit. Always check that your boat's model and configuration match the listing.
Classic Semi-Custom Boat Covers
Our Classic range is designed around different boat styles, such as Runabouts, Bowriders, Centre Consoles, T-Tops and Cabin Cruisers, etc etc
These covers offer greater flexibility and can accommodate certain additional accessories, provided you select the correct size.
To find the right cover, match your boat's style to our Classic range, then click the yellow Boat Cover Fitting Guide button on the product page. Follow the measurement instructions, making sure to measure over the highest points of your boat and any accessories.
Universal Boat Covers
Our Universal range offers an economical and versatile solution designed to fit a wide variety of boats rather than a specific model or hull style.
We offer both storage and trailerable options. Universal covers generally provide a less tailored fit than our Custom and Classic ranges, making them a practical alternative when a more specific cover isn't available.
Which cover should I choose?
- Custom: For a listed boat model with its original factory configuration.
- Classic: For boats requiring a style-specific cover, including many older boats and boats with additional accessories.
- Universal: For a more economical, general-purpose fit.
Important: Whichever range you choose, always check the product's fitting guide and measurements before purchasing. Additional accessories can affect the size of cover required.
You can explore all three ranges using our Boat Cover Selector to find a suitable option for your boat.
How do I measure my boat for a cover?
To find the correct Oceansouth boat cover, you'll need two key measurements: Overall Fabric Length and Overall Fabric Width. These measurements must follow the contours of your boat and pass over its highest accessories, rather than measuring in a straight line.
Measure the Overall Fabric Length
Starting approximately 10–15 cm below the bow, where the cover's hem will sit, run your tape measure all the way to approximately 10–15cm below the stern.
Ensure your tape measure passes over the highest parts of your boat, including any windscreens, Bimini tops, roofs, rocket launchers or stern bait boards.
Measure the Overall Fabric Width
Starting approximately 10–15cm below the gunwale on one side of your boat, measure across to the same position on the opposite side.
Ensure the tape measure passes over the highest point of your boat, including any windscreens, Bimini tops, rocket launchers or other accessories.
Find your correct cover size
Once you have both measurements, refer to the Overall Measurement Guide on your chosen product page to find the most suitable cover size. Press the yellow ‘Boat Cover Fitting Guide” button or scroll to the bottom of the page.
Important: Always measure over your boat's highest accessories and allow sufficient fabric to extend down both sides.
What if my boat cover seems too small?
If your boat cover seems too small, first check that the part number on the packaging or product matches the cover you ordered.
The next steps depend on which type of cover you purchased.
Custom Boat Covers
If you purchased a Custom Boat Cover and it doesn't fit correctly, please email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your order number and photos showing the cover fitted to your boat. Our team will review the fit and advise you on the next steps.
Classic Semi-Custom Boat Covers
If you purchased a Classic Semi-Custom Boat Cover, follow these steps:
- Check the part number: Confirm that the part number on the packaging or product matches your order.
- Re-measure your boat: Follow the Boat Cover Fitting Guide on the product page. Measure your Overall Fabric Length from approximately 10–15 cm below the bow to 10–15 cm below the stern, passing over the highest points of your boat. Repeat this process across the width, measuring over the highest accessories.
- Check your accessories: Windscreens, Bimini tops, rocket launchers, bait boards and other accessories can increase the amount of fabric required. Make sure these are included in your measurements.
- Compare your measurements: Refer to the Overall Measurement Guide on your product page and compare your measurements with the cover's sizing chart.
Still having trouble?
Email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your order number, overall fabric measurements and photos showing the cover fitted to your boat.
Our team can review the fit and advise whether a larger size, a different cover style or an exchange may be suitable.
Will a custom boat cover fit with a bow-mounted electric motor?
Our Custom Boat Covers are designed to fit your boat's original factory layout and do not accommodate trolling motors.
While the cover can fit over the trolling motor's mounting bracket, it is not designed to cover the motor itself. This is because trolling motors vary significantly in brand, size and shape.
If you want to cover your trolling motor as well, we recommend choosing a cover from our Classic Semi-Custom Boat Cover range.
Follow the Overall Fabric Measurement Guide on your chosen product page, ensuring you measure over your trolling motor and any other accessories. This will help you select a cover with sufficient fabric to accommodate your boat and motor. https://oceansouth.com/en-au/collections/boat-covers
How do I find the right jet ski cover?
Check our Custom Jet Ski Cover range
Start by browsing our custom jet ski covers Jet ski covers. Find your jet ski's make, model and year to see whether we have a cover specifically designed for it.
If your model isn't listed, choose a Universal Jet Ski Cover
If we don't have a custom cover for your jet ski, simply measure its overall centreline length, from the tip of the bow to the rear of the jet ski.
Then visit our Universal Jet Ski Cover range and compare your measurement with the sizing chart to select the correct cover. Universal jet ski covers
Important: Always check your jet ski's exact model and year when selecting a custom cover, or measure its full centreline length when choosing a universal cover.
What if my boat cover seems too large?
If your boat cover seems too large, first check that the part number on the packaging or product matches the cover you ordered.
The next steps depend on which type of cover you purchased.
Custom Boat Covers
If you purchased a Custom Boat Cover, first ensure the cover is correctly positioned and that all supplied straps and adjustments have been tightened appropriately.
If the cover still appears too large, please email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your order number and photos showing the cover fitted to your boat. Our team will review the fit and advise you on the next steps.
Classic Semi-Custom Boat Covers
If you purchased a Classic Semi-Custom Boat Cover, follow these steps:
- Check the part number: Confirm that the part number on the packaging or product matches your order.
- Check the fit: Ensure the cover is correctly positioned and that the hem and supplied straps have been properly tightened. Some excess fabric may be reduced by correctly adjusting the cover.
- Compare your measurements: Refer to the Overall Measurement Guide on your product page and compare your measurements with the cover's sizing chart. If your measurements are significantly smaller than the cover's dimensions, you may require a smaller size.
Still having trouble?
Email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your order number, overall fabric measurements and photos showing the cover fitted to your boat.
Our team can review the fit and advise whether a smaller size, a different cover style or an exchange may be suitable.
Will the boat cover fit over my folded bimini?
Yes, in most cases — but it depends on where your Bimini sits when folded down.
If your folded Bimini sits completely inside the boat and below the gunwale, our Boat Covers should be able to cover it normally.
If the folded Bimini sits on the gunwale or protrudes above it, additional fabric will be required to accommodate the extra height. In this situation, we recommend choosing from our Classic Semi-Custom Boat Cover range.
Follow the Overall Fabric Measurement Guide on the product page and measure the Overall Fabric Length and Width over the folded Bimini and any other accessories. Then compare these measurements with the sizing chart to select the most suitable cover.
Tip: Make sure any Bimini fittings or sharp contact points are padded with foam, fabric or similar protection to prevent rubbing and help extend the life of your cover.
Can I use a storage boat cover on the road?
No. A storage-only Boat Cover is designed to protect your boat while it is stationary and should not be used while trailering on the road.
If you plan to tow your boat with the cover fitted, choose an Oceansouth Trailerable Boat Cover specifically designed for this purpose.
When trailering, always ensure the cover is correctly positioned and firmly secured using all supplied tie-down straps. For long-distance or highway travel, we also recommend adding extra straps over the cover to minimise movement and flapping, helping reduce wear and extend the life of your cover.
Bimini tops, T-tops and shade
What is the difference between a 2-bow, 3-bow and 4-bow bimini?
The bow count refers to the number of frame hoops that support the Bimini canopy. A 2-Bow has two frame hoops, a 3-Bow has three, and a 4-Bow has four.
The main difference when choosing between them is the overall size and shade coverage. Each Bimini style is available in different dimensions, so you shouldn't select a Bimini based on the number of bows alone.
View our Bimini range here:
https://oceansouth.com/en-au/collections/biminis
When comparing Biminis, check three important measurements:
- Mounting width – Measure across the boat between the two points where you intend to mount the Bimini and select a frame with a compatible mounting-width range.
- Canopy length – This determines how much of the boat the Bimini can provide shade over. Compare the listed lengths to the amount of coverage you want.
- Height – Measure vertically from the proposed mounting position. Consider whether you want comfortable standing headroom underneath the Bimini or prefer a lower-profile setup primarily for seated shade.
Generally, the different bow configurations allow for different canopy lengths and coverage, but the best option depends on your boat and how you want to use the Bimini.
Don't choose based solely on your boat's overall length. Measure your mounting width first, then compare the available length and height options on our website to find the Bimini style that provides the shade coverage and headroom you prefer.
Will a bimini fit my existing mounting points?
Possibly. The first step is to measure the distance between your existing main Bimini mounting points and compare this with the adjustable mounting-width range of the Oceansouth Bimini you're considering.
If the Bimini uses front and rear adjustable straps, there is usually more flexibility, as the straps can be adjusted to reach your existing mounting points, provided their location allows the Bimini to be correctly positioned and tensioned.
If your existing Bimini uses support poles/bars at the front or rear instead of straps, you'll also need to measure the distance and position of those mounting points. The main mounting width may match while the support-pole mounting locations are different.
Also consider the Bimini length and height, as these affect where the frame, straps or support poles will sit once installed.
If you're hoping to use all of your existing mounting points without drilling new holes, email sales@oceansouth.com.au with:
- Photos showing your current Bimini and mounting points
- Distance between the main mounting points
- Measurements and positions of any front or rear support-pole mounting points
- The Oceansouth Bimini model or size you're considering
Our team can compare the setup and help determine whether your existing mounting positions are likely to be suitable.
How do I choose the correct bimini?
Choosing the correct Oceansouth Bimini Top comes down to three key measurements: width, length and height, along with your boat's layout, how you use the boat and how much shade you want.
Measure the mounting width
This is the most important measurement. Measure across the boat from the point where you intend to mount the Bimini on one side to the mounting point on the other. Compare this with the mounting-width range shown for each Bimini.
Remember, the Bimini mounting width is not necessarily the same as the overall width of your boat.
Choose the length and Bimini style
Think about how you use your boat and find the right balance between shade coverage and usable space.
A longer Bimini provides a larger shaded area, which can be ideal for cruising, relaxing or keeping more passengers protected from the sun. However, if you use your boat primarily for fishing, you may prefer a shorter Bimini that leaves more open space around the bow or stern for casting, moving around and accessing fishing equipment.
Also compare the different Bimini styles and bow configurations available. Each design has different canopy lengths, frame layouts and coverage, so consider where the frame and support points will sit in relation to your seats, console, fishing area and other equipment.
The longest Bimini isn't automatically the best choice — select the style and length that gives you the right balance of shade and open deck space for how you use your boat.
Choose your preferred height
Measure vertically from the proposed Bimini mounting point, not from the boat floor.
If you want to stand underneath the Bimini, choose a height that gives you comfortable head clearance. If the Bimini is mainly providing shade while seated, you may prefer a lower-profile design.
Also consider where the Bimini will sit when folded and whether the frame, straps or support poles could interfere with other equipment.
Important: Don't choose a Bimini based solely on your boat's make, model or overall length. Measure your actual boat and compare the mounting width, canopy length, height and Bimini design to find the setup that best suits how you use your boat.
Explore the Oceansouth Bimini range and compare the available styles and sizes here:
How do I choose a T-top for my console?
Choosing the correct Oceansouth T-Top comes down to your console's width, available mounting space, accessories and preferred style of T-Top.
Measure your console width
Measure the widest point of your console, including any protruding features.
Each T-Top has a specified maximum console width. Your console can be narrower than this measurement, but it must not exceed it. If your console is wider than the maximum stated width, you'll need to select a larger T-Top model.
Check your console's accessories and mounting space
Before choosing your T-Top, check whether your console has side-mounted throttles, controls, grab rails, cup holders or other accessories.
Make sure these won't interfere with the T-Top frame or prevent you from operating your controls comfortably. Also check that you have sufficient space for the mounting brackets and that the frame won't obstruct access around your console.
Choose your preferred T-Top style
Oceansouth offers different T-Top designs to suit various boat configurations and preferences, including folding, retractable and heavy-duty options. Consider how you use your boat, the amount of shade you require and whether you need to lower your T-Top for storage or transport. T tops boat tops
Review the product's measurements and fitting guide
Once you've selected a style, review the product page's measurements, installation requirements and fitting instructions.
For our Heavy Duty range, you can choose between console-mounted and deck-mounted options. Our Heavy Duty Console Mount model accommodates console widths up to 900 mm, while the Deck Mount models come in 1.4 m and 1.6 m widths.
Important: Console width alone does not guarantee compatibility. Always check your, side controls, accessories, available mounting surfaces and overall clearance before purchasing.
Does a bimini include the frame and canopy?
Yes! All Oceansouth Bimini Tops come complete with the frame, fabric canopy, necessary fittings and installation instructions.
The only items you'll need to supply are the mounting screws or bolts to secure the Bimini to your boat. These are not included because boats are constructed from different materials and require different mounting hardware.
Do you have covers for inflatable boats or RIBs?
Yes! Oceansouth offers a dedicated range of covers designed for both inflatable dinghies and Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs).
Our range includes two options:
- Heavy Duty Inflatable Dinghy Covers: Designed for traditional inflatable dinghies and tenders, with multiple sizes available.
- RIB Boat Covers: Specifically designed for rigid inflatable boats, accommodating their wider hull profiles and inflatable tubes.
How do I choose the correct cover?
First, identify whether your boat is a traditional inflatable dinghy or a RIB. Then select the appropriate cover range and compare your boat's measurements with the sizing guide on the product page.
Make sure to consider any additional accessories, such as consoles, raised seating or other equipment, that may affect the fit.
Can I fold my bimini down?
Yes! Oceansouth Bimini Tops are designed to fold down easily when not in use.
Simply unclip the straps or disconnect the support poles, depending on your Bimini model, and fold the frame down flat.
Our recommendation: If your Bimini has support poles rather than straps, we recommend purchasing thumb screws. These allow you to quickly release the support poles without tools, making it much easier to fold your Bimini down whenever required. Thumb screw for knuckle deck mounts
Which shade extension will fit?
To find the correct Oceansouth Shade Extension, start by checking your existing Bimini or T-Top and taking the three measurements shown in the diagram.
- A – Length: Measure the length of your existing Bimini or T-Top canopy.
- B – Width: Measure the width of your existing canopy.
- C – Extension length: Determine how far you'd like the shade extension to reach towards the bow or stern.
Once you have these measurements, compare them with the dimensions listed on our Shade Extension product pages to find the most suitable option.
Can I buy a replacement bimini pole or fitting?
Yes! Oceansouth offers a range of replacement Bimini poles, fittings and hardware.
You can purchase many replacement components directly through our Bimini Hardware range, including hinges, deck mounts, knuckles, tube ends, thumb screws and support fittings. Bimini hardware
Can't find the part you need?
Email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your Bimini's product SKU and photos or a description of the replacement part you require.
Our team can send you a spare parts diagram or product list so you can identify the correct component. Once confirmed, we'll provide a sales quote and arrange dispatch following payment, subject to availability.
Important: Always check your existing pole diameter and fitting measurements before ordering to ensure compatibility.
Where can I find bimini assembly instructions?
Visit our Product Support page Product Support page and find the installation instructions that match your Bimini model. Our Product Support section includes installation guides for a range of Oceansouth products.
You can also visit our Oceansouth YouTube channel for step-by-step installation videos. Videos
Please note: Not every product has a step-by-step installation video.
If you still can't find the correct instructions for your Bimini, email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your product and our team can send you the appropriate instruction PDF.
Do you make made-to-measure or bespoke covers?
Oceansouth offers a large range of pre-made Custom Boat Covers designed from specifications and measurements previously taken from specific boat makes and models.
However, we do not manufacture one-off, made-to-measure or bespoke covers, and we're unable to modify our existing covers to suit individual boats or custom configurations.
If you require a cover made specifically for your boat, particularly where it has been modified or has unique accessories, we recommend contacting a local marine trimmer or marine upholsterer who can measure your boat and manufacture a bespoke cover to suit.
Why is my new bimini canopy loose?
A loose or baggy Bimini canopy is often caused by the frame position, bow setup or strap tension rather than the canopy itself.
First, check the bow order, canopy orientation and strap positions against the assembly instructions, and make sure the canopy is pulled evenly across the frame.
Pay particular attention to the following:
- Angle the front of the Bimini further downward: A common issue is that the front section of the frame is sitting too upright. Ensure the front straps are tightened.
- Check the knuckle positions: Check the knuckle fittings where the straps attach and compare their positions with the installation instructions or product photos. If a knuckle is positioned too far up the frame, it can affect the tension and cause the canopy to sit unevenly.
- Tension the straps evenly: Adjust the front and rear straps evenly until the canopy is firm and properly tensioned. Avoid excessively tightening one side or one end.
- Confirm the correct canopy and frame: If the canopy remains loose, check the canopy label/SKU and compare your frame measurements with the Bimini kit you purchased.
If you've made these adjustments and the canopy is still loose, email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your order number, Bimini SKU and clear photos showing the entire Bimini set up on the boat. Our engineering team can review the setup and advise what may need adjusting.
Do you sell boat shade extensions?
Yes! Oceansouth offers a range of Shade Extensions designed to provide additional shade at the bow or stern of your boat, depending on your existing setup.
For boats with a Bimini Top, we offer Bimini Shade Extensions that attach to your existing Bimini to increase the shaded area. Options are available with support poles to hold the extended shade securely in position.
For boats with a T-Top, we offer T-Top Shade Extensions designed to extend the shade beyond the existing T-Top canopy. We have different options, including shade extenders and extensions with support poles, depending on the amount of coverage and setup you require.
To choose the correct option, check the product's measurement diagram and measure your existing Bimini or T-Top, including the width and the distance you want the shade to extend. Also check that you have suitable mounting points and clear space for the straps or support poles.
You can view our Shade Extension range here:
Can I tow the boat with the bimini open?
No. We recommend never towing your boat with the Bimini open.
Before trailering, fold the Bimini back and secure the canopy inside the storage boot supplied with all Oceansouth Bimini Tops. Make sure the storage boot is completely zipped and the Bimini is securely positioned before travelling.
If your Bimini has rear support poles, or you've purchased them separately, you can leave the folded and zipped Bimini supported in the upright storage position while towing.
Alternatively, you can fold the entire Bimini down flat and secure it before travelling.
Whichever method you choose, make sure the Bimini is properly secured and cannot move or flap while the boat is being towed.
How do I choose a bimini height?
Choosing the right Bimini height comes down to how you want to use the boat and how much head clearance you need.
Measure vertically from the proposed mounting surface on your boat and compare this measurement with the stated frame height of the Bimini.
If you want to stand comfortably underneath the Bimini, consider your own height and allow enough clearance above your head. Remember, the Bimini height is measured from where the frame mounts to the boat, not from the boat floor.
A taller Bimini provides more standing headroom, while a lower Bimini can provide a lower-profile appearance and may be preferred when the Bimini is mainly providing shade while passengers are seated.
Before choosing, consider:
- Whether you want to sit or stand underneath the Bimini
- Your height and the head clearance you would find comfortable
- Where the Bimini will actually be mounted on the boat
- The overall look and profile you prefer
- Clearance around windscreens, consoles and other accessories
We recommend using a tape measure to physically measure the proposed height from the mounting point. This makes it much easier to visualise where the Bimini canopy will sit before selecting your preferred height.
Can I buy a replacement bimini canopy without the frame?
Yes! We offer replacement fabric canopies for most Oceansouth Bimini Tops, so you may not need to replace the complete frame.
For Bimini replacement fabrics and components, visit:
Bimini components and replacements
When selecting your replacement canopy, make sure you match the product SKU, frame size and measurements with the compatible replacement listed on the page. Even a small difference in frame dimensions can affect how the canopy fits and tensions.
You can also select your preferred available colour when ordering the replacement fabric.
Important: Oceansouth replacement canopies are specifically designed to fit Oceansouth Bimini frames. We cannot guarantee that they will correctly fit a Bimini frame manufactured by another brand, even when the measurements appear similar.
You're welcome to try an Oceansouth replacement canopy on another manufacturer's frame if the dimensions are suitable; however, compatibility cannot be guaranteed. If it doesn't fit and you wish to return it, the return freight costs will be your responsibility.
If you're unsure which replacement canopy matches your existing Oceansouth Bimini, email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your Bimini SKU and our team can help identify the correct replacement.
Outboard and trolling motor covers
What is a vented outboard cover?
A Vented Outboard Cover is a close-fitting cover designed specifically for the cowling of compatible outboard motors. Unlike a standard storage cover, it features built-in ventilation and is designed to remain fitted while the motor is running.
The cover helps protect the outboard cowling from UV exposure, salt spray, dirt, scratches and general weathering, while the ventilation areas and model-specific design allow the motor to operate with the cover fitted.
Vented covers are model-specific, so it is important to select the correct cover for your exact outboard brand, horsepower and model/generation. A cover designed for a different motor may not align correctly with the ventilation and other openings.
Use our Outboard Cover Selector to find a compatible cover for your motor:
You can also watch our video to see an Oceansouth Vented Outboard Cover and how it fits:
Important: Vented Outboard Covers are different from our Full and Cowling Storage Covers. Storage covers should be removed before operating the motor, whereas a correctly matched Vented Outboard Cover is designed to stay fitted during operation.
How do I choose a trolling motor cover?
Finding the correct Oceansouth Trolling Motor Cover is easy using our Trolling Motor Cover Selector:
Start by selecting your trolling motor's brand, then choose the exact model. Once you've found your motor, select the correct shaft length from the available options.
The three main things to match are:
- Brand – such as Minn Kota, Garmin, MotorGuide, Lowrance/Simrad, Rhodan or Watersnake
- Model – make sure you select the correct model and, where applicable, the correct generation
- Shaft length – the same motor can be available with several different shaft lengths, so this is important for getting the correct cover
If you're unsure of your shaft length, follow the shaft measurement diagram provided on the website. Measure your motor as shown in the diagram and match the measurement to the appropriate cover option.
Don't worry if the colour of your trolling motor is different from the motor pictured on our website. Colour does not affect the fit — what matters is matching the correct brand, model and shaft length.
Important: Don't select a cover based on shaft length alone. Different trolling motor models can have different head and motor shapes even when they have the same shaft length, so always use the selector and match your exact motor wherever possible.
Will a Minn Kota Terrova cover fit a Quest motor?
No. The standard Minn Kota Terrova and the newer Minn Kota Terrova QUEST are two different motor models and require different Oceansouth covers.
The Terrova QUEST has a noticeably larger and bulkier motor head/control box, so a cover designed for the standard Terrova will not correctly fit the QUEST model.
When choosing your cover, make sure you select the listing that specifically matches:
- Minn Kota Terrova – for the standard Terrova
- Minn Kota Terrova QUEST – for the newer QUEST model
You will then need to select the correct shaft length for your motor.
If you're unsure which version you have, compare your trolling motor with the photos on our website. The larger head/control box on the QUEST model makes it relatively easy to identify.
Use our Trolling Motor Cover Selector here:
How do I find the correct outboard motor cover?
Start by identifying your outboard motor's brand, horsepower and exact model/model code, then use our Outboard Cover Finder to find the compatible Oceansouth cover:
https://oceansouth.com/en-au/pages/outboard-motor-covers
It's important to match the exact motor model, rather than selecting a cover based only on horsepower. Outboards with the same horsepower can have different cowling shapes and dimensions depending on the model and generation. Once you've identified your motor, compare it with the models and photos shown in our Outboard Cover Finder.
If you're purchasing a Full Outboard Motor Cover, you'll also need to know your motor's shaft length. If you're unsure, follow the shaft-length measurement diagram provided on the relevant product listing and select the matching option.
For older motors that aren't shown among the current models, select Previous Generation Models in the Outboard Cover Finder to view the available cover options.
Remember that the colour or decals on your motor don't determine the cover size. The important details are the motor's brand, model/generation, horsepower and, for Full Covers, the correct shaft length.
Does outboard shaft length affect the full cover?
Yes! Your outboard's shaft length is an important measurement when selecting the correct Full Outboard Cover.
Outboard motors can have different shaft lengths, even within the same horsepower range. Choosing the incorrect shaft length may result in a cover that is too short or too long. To find the correct cover, use our Outboard Cover Selector and match your motor's brand, horsepower and shaft length with the available options. Outboard Cover Finder
Important: There is a diagram on how to measure your shaft length on all of our full outboard covers models.
Does shaft length matter when ordering a trolling motor cover?
Yes! Your trolling motor's shaft length is an important factor when selecting the correct cover.
Check the manufacturer's shaft-length marking or your motor's manual and select the matching cover variant. Need help measuring? You'll find a shaft-length measurement diagram on each of our trolling motor covers brand product pages to help you measure correctly and select the right cover.
Can an outboard cover be used while trailering?
Yes! Oceansouth Full Outboard Covers and Cowling Storage Covers can be used while trailering, helping protect your motor from UV, dirt, road grime and debris while travelling.
Our Vented Outboard Covers can also be used while trailering, but unlike our storage covers, they are specifically designed to remain fitted while the motor is running. They feature ventilation and model-specific cut-outs that allow the motor to receive the airflow it requires while operating.
Important: Storage and Full Outboard Covers should be removed before operating the motor. If you want a cover that stays on while you're out on the water, choose an Oceansouth Vented Outboard Cover.
Can you make a cover for an older outboard?
Yes! Use our Outboard Cover Selector and select the option for previous-generation models.
For older outboards, we offer Universal Outboard Covers, available in both:
- Full Outboard Covers – designed to cover the complete motor, including the shaft.
- Half/Cowling Covers – designed to cover the motor cowling only.
Select the appropriate cover by matching your outboard's size and measurements with the sizing guide.
Please note: We do not manufacture Vented Outboard Covers for older or previous-generation motors. Our Vented Covers are model-specific and are designed for the compatible current models listed on our website.
How do I identify my outboard model?
Start by checking the identification plate or label on your outboard motor. This will usually show important information such as the model number, horsepower (HP) and other engine details.
For selecting an Oceansouth Outboard Cover, we generally need your engine brand, horsepower and model year or generation.
If you don't know the year of your motor, use our Outboard Cover Selector:
- Select your outboard brand.
- Select the horsepower (HP).
- Compare your motor with the photos shown on our website and select the model that matches the shape and design of your engine.
If your motor isn't shown, it's likely to be an older or previous-generation model. Select the Previous Generation Models option in the selector to view the Universal Full and Cowling Cover options available for your motor.
Tip: When comparing photos, pay attention to the overall cowling shape and design, not just the colour or decals.
How do I measure my trolling motor shaft length?
To measure your trolling motor shaft length, measure the vertical shaft/pole from the base of the motor head down to the top of the propeller housing.
Keep the tape measure running straight along the shaft and record the measurement in inches.
Need help measuring? On each of our Trolling Motor Cover product pages, you'll find an image showing exactly where to measure the shaft length, making it easy to check your motor before selecting a cover.
Once measured, select the matching shaft-length option for your trolling motor cover.
Important: Shaft length is only one part of choosing the correct cover. Always make sure you also match the motor brand, model and generation shown on the product page.
Does the colour of my trolling motor affect cover fit?
No. The colour of your trolling motor does not affect which Oceansouth cover you need.
When selecting your Trolling Motor Cover, make sure you correctly match the:
- Motor brand
- Motor model
- Shaft length
If your trolling motor is a different colour from the motor shown in the photos on our website, don't worry — the colour does not affect the fit.
As long as the brand, model and shaft length match the compatible motor listed on the product page, you can select that cover.
Using and caring for your cover
How can I stop rain pooling on my cover?
Rain pooling usually occurs when the cover develops low or unsupported areas where water can collect instead of running off.
First, make sure your cover is the correct size and is fitted and tensioned properly according to the sizing and fitting instructions. The cover should be firm enough to encourage water to run towards the sides rather than forming pockets.
We strongly recommend using a Boat Cover Support Pole or another suitable support system. A support pole raises the centre of the cover, creating a higher point so rainwater can drain away more easily.
Oceansouth offers two support pole options:
Telescopic Support Pole:
https://oceansouth.com/en-au/products/boat-cover-support-pole-kit
Interlock Support Pole:
https://oceansouth.com/en-au/products/interlock-adjustable-boat-cover-support-pole
When setting up the cover, also check areas around windscreens, consoles, seats, fittings and other raised accessories, as these can sometimes create low pockets where water collects.
If necessary, reposition the support pole or use additional suitable support to create an even slope across the cover.
Don't leave pooled water sitting on the cover for extended periods. Oceansouth boat cover fabrics are water-resistant rather than completely waterproof, and prolonged pooling can place unnecessary stress on the fabric and seams and may eventually allow moisture to seep through.
Are Oceansouth boat covers waterproof?
Oceansouth Boat Covers are water-resistant, not completely waterproof. They're designed to protect your boat from rain and the elements during normal use.
However, if water is allowed to pool on the cover for an extended period, it may eventually seep through the fabric.
Our recommendation: We strongly recommend using a boat cover support pole to keep your cover raised and properly tensioned. This encourages rainwater to run off rather than collect on the fabric, helping prevent water ingress and prolong the life of your cover. Interlock adjustable boat cover support pole
How tightly should I fit the boat cover?
Your Oceansouth Boat Cover should be fitted firmly and securely, without excessive tension, to prevent movement, flapping and water pooling.
Follow these steps for the best fit:
- Position and tighten: Pull the cover into its correct position and tighten the supplied straps evenly. Ensure the cover is secure without overstretching the fabric or putting excessive pressure on fittings.
- Protect high-stress areas: We recommend adding extra protection wherever the cover comes into contact with sharp edges or protruding accessories. Foam, additional fabric or even a cut pool noodle can provide cushioning, reduce rubbing and help extend the life of your cover.
- Prevent water pooling: Use a boat cover support pole where necessary to keep the fabric raised and encourage rainwater to run off rather than collect on the cover.
- Secure your cover for highway travel: For long-distance towing, ensure all supplied straps are firmly tightened. We also recommend adding extra straps over the top of the cover to minimise wind movement and flapping at highway speeds.
Our recommendation: A properly fitted and secured cover, combined with extra protection around high-stress areas, will help minimise unnecessary wear and extend the overall lifespan of your boat cover.
What is the difference between cover fabric ranges?
Cover fabrics can differ in weight, strength, coating, breathability, water resistance and intended use.
When comparing cover fabrics, we recommend looking at the GSM (grams per square metre) rather than relying only on a denier rating. GSM tells you the actual weight of the fabric per square metre and provides a useful way to compare the construction of different fabrics. Generally, a heavier GSM indicates a more substantial fabric, although the fabric construction, coating and quality are also important.
At Oceansouth, many of our boat covers use our premium ATLAS Marine Grade Fabric. Our fabric is a high-tech polyester or PVC designed specifically for demanding outdoor and marine conditions. It is water-resistant, breathable, UV-resistant and highly durable, helping protect your boat while allowing trapped moisture and condensation to escape.
Our ATLAS fabric has been developed through years of experience with marine products. It uses dope-dyed polyester with UV inhibitors for excellent outdoor durability, colour retention, abrasion resistance and dimensional stability.
Some specialised Oceansouth covers may use a different weight of ATLAS fabric depending on their intended application, so always check the GSM and material specifications on the individual product page.
How do I identify my product SKU part number?
Your Oceansouth SKU (or part number) can be found in a few different places depending on whether you already have the product.
If you haven't purchased the product yet:
Visit the product page on our website. The SKU/part number is displayed near the top of the page, underneath the price. Make sure you have selected the correct size, colour or model variant first.
If you already have the product:
Check the sewn-in product label, original packaging or your order confirmation for the SKU or part number. You can also compare these details with the relevant product page on our website.
Having the correct SKU is particularly helpful when contacting us about spare parts, replacement fabrics, fittings or product support.
Can I buy only the replacement fabric for my product?
Yes! We offer replacement fabric canopies for most Oceansouth Bimini Tops and T-Tops, so you may not need to replace the complete frame.
For Bimini replacement fabrics and components, visit:
Bimini components and replacements
For T-Top replacement fabrics and components, visit:
When choosing a replacement fabric, make sure you match your product SKU, frame measurements and colour with the compatible replacement listed on the page. A fabric designed for a different frame size may not fit correctly.
Important: Our replacement fabrics are designed specifically for Oceansouth-branded frames. We cannot guarantee compatibility with Bimini or T-Top frames from other manufacturers, even if the measurements appear similar.
If you're fitting an Oceansouth replacement fabric to another brand's frame and it doesn't fit, return freight costs will be your responsibility.
Do you sell replacement straps and buckles?
Yes! We offer replacement straps, buckles and fittings for a range of Oceansouth products.
For Boat Cover straps and accessories, visit:
https://oceansouth.com/en-au/collections/boat-cover-accessories
For Bimini straps, fittings and replacement components, visit:
https://oceansouth.com/en-au/pages/bimini-components-and-replacements
Make sure you check your product SKU and existing fittings to ensure you select the correct replacement part.
If you can't find the part you need, email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your product SKU and a photo of the required part, and our team can help identify the correct replacement.
How should I clean a boat cover?
To keep your Oceansouth cover clean and help prolong its life, follow these simple care instructions:
- Use a soft brush and lukewarm water to remove loose dirt and grime.
- Use a mild soapy detergent if required. A small amount of dishwashing liquid is suitable for general cleaning.
- Do not use harsh laundry soaps or chemical detergents, as these may damage the protective UV coating on the fabric.
- For stubborn or ingrained stains, we recommend using a polyester canvas cleaner, available from most camping and automotive stores.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow the cover to air dry completely.
Important: Always make sure your cover is clean and completely dry before storing it. Storing the cover while damp can reduce its lifespan.
For a step-by-step demonstration, follow our cleaning guide here: Watch
Are the cover fabrics UV resistant?
Yes! Oceansouth boat covers are manufactured using UV-resistant marine-grade fabrics designed for prolonged outdoor and marine use.
Many of our covers use our specially developed ATLAS Marine Grade Fabric. ATLAS is a 100% dope-dyed polyester fabric manufactured with UV inhibitors to provide excellent resistance to sunlight, fading and deterioration. It is also designed to be durable, breathable and water-resistant.
Many of our ATLAS boat cover fabrics provide UPF 50+ UV protection, helping protect your boat's upholstery, dashboard, electronics and other surfaces from prolonged sun exposure.
Please note: Fabric specifications can vary between product ranges, so we recommend checking the material specifications on the individual product page for the exact fabric weight and features of your chosen cover.
While our fabrics are designed to withstand harsh marine environments, no outdoor fabric lasts forever. Keeping your cover clean, properly tensioned and completely dry before storage will help maximise its lifespan.
Why is there moisture under my boat cover?
Moisture underneath your Boat Cover does not necessarily mean the cover is leaking. Condensation can form naturally, particularly when a damp boat is covered or when temperatures change between the air inside and outside the cover.
To help reduce moisture:
- Dry your boat before covering it wherever practical. Water left inside the boat can evaporate and become trapped as condensation.
- Allow ventilation where the cover and boat setup permit, helping moisture and humid air escape.
- Keep the cover properly tensioned and supported. We recommend using a Boat Cover Support Pole to create a slope so rainwater runs off rather than pooling on the fabric.
- Avoid long-term water pooling. Oceansouth Boat Covers are water-resistant rather than completely waterproof, so water left sitting on the fabric for extended periods may eventually seep through.
- Never store the cover wet. If removing and storing your cover, make sure it is clean and completely dry first.
Some condensation is normal in changing weather conditions. Good ventilation, a dry boat and a properly supported cover will help minimise moisture buildup and prolong the life of both your cover and boat.
What if parts are missing from the kit?
If you believe parts are missing from your Oceansouth product, first compare everything in the box with the numbered parts list in the assembly instructions for your exact product SKU.
Check all packaging carefully, as smaller fittings and hardware may be packed separately or inside other components.
If something is still missing, please:
- Identify the missing part number from the instructions or parts diagram.
- Take clear photos showing everything you received, including the packaging.
- Take a photo of the product label/SKU so we can confirm the exact kit.
Email the photos, your order number and the missing part details to sales@oceansouth.com.au.
Our team will review the kit against the correct parts list and, once confirmed, arrange for any missing components to be sent out to you.

Seats, pedestals and stone guards
How do I choose stone guards for my boat trailer?
To choose the correct Oceansouth Stone Guard, start by measuring the maximum height your boat's hull and trailer can accommodate.
If both Stone Guard sizes are suitable, consider how much protection you require. The wider Stone Guard provides greater coverage and protection for your boat while towing. Boat trailer stone guards
Important: If your boat has a wide hull that extends beyond the trailer, you may require additional extension flares. Please email sales@oceansouth.com.au to enquire about these accessories.
Will stone guards fit my trailer's larger drawbar?
Our standard Stone Guard mounting kit accommodates trailer drawbars with a maximum beam height of 125 mm and beam width of 80 mm.
If your trailer has a larger drawbar, we offer larger mounting plates and longer U-bolts, which can be purchased separately.
Simply email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your trailer's drawbar height and width, and our team can help you select the appropriate mounting hardware.
Can I buy replacement stone guard brackets or mesh?
Yes! We offer replacement brackets, mounting fittings and mesh for selected Oceansouth Stone Guards, subject to availability.

Can stone guards fit an I-beam trailer frame?
Yes! Oceansouth Stone Guards are suitable for I-beam trailer frames, provided you select the appropriate mounting hardware.
Our standard mounting kit accommodates trailer beams with a maximum height of 125 mm and a maximum width of 80 mm.
If your trailer frame exceeds these dimensions or requires different mounting hardware, we offer larger mounting plates and longer U-bolts, which can be purchased separately.
Simply email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your trailer frame measurements, and our team can help you select the appropriate mounting hardware.
Can I buy a replacement boat seat fabric material?
We only offer replacement seat fabric covers for our Oceansouth Skipper Seats only. Replacement fabric is not available for our other boat seat ranges. To order a replacement for that seat, please email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your Skipper Seat's product SKU and the replacement fabric you require. Our team will confirm availability and provide a sales quote. Once payment has been received, we'll arrange dispatch of your replacement seat fabric.
What bolts should I use for a seat pedestal?
Select marine-grade stainless fasteners that match the pedestal's mounting holes and your boat's floor construction. Bolt or screw length and reinforcement depend on the deck type and material.
How do I choose the right seat pedestal height?
Choosing the correct seat pedestal height depends on your boat layout, the height of your seat and your preferred sitting position.
The pedestal heights shown on our website are the installed pedestal height, so remember that your boat seat will add additional height once mounted.
Before ordering, we recommend:
Check the pedestal height or adjustment range shown on the product page. Oceansouth offers fixed and adjustable pedestals in a variety of heights to suit different boat layouts and seating positions.
Allow for the height of your boat seat on top of the pedestal when estimating your final sitting position.
Check your driving or seating position. Consider your visibility over the windscreen or console, steering wheel position, leg room and whether you can comfortably reach your throttle and other controls.
Test the height before ordering. Take a measuring tape out to your boat and extend it vertically from the pedestal mounting position to the height listed on our website. Imagine your seat positioned on top to get a much better idea of where you'll actually be sitting.
Consider an adjustable pedestal if you're unsure. Our adjustable models provide a height range rather than one fixed position, allowing you to raise or lower the seat to find a more comfortable position. Some models also include sliders for forward and backward adjustment.
Tip: Don't choose a pedestal based only on the pedestal measurement itself. Think about the complete installed sitting height — boat floor + pedestal + seat — and where this positions you in relation to your boat's controls and windscreen.
Will a seat fit an Oceansouth pedestal?
Yes! All Oceansouth Boat Seats are designed to be compatible with Oceansouth Seat Pedestals.
Most of our pedestals use a 7-inch mounting base, while our swivels and sliders feature multiple mounting holes to provide greater flexibility when fitting different seat bases.
If you're trying to fit a non-Oceansouth seat to one of our pedestals, we recommend checking the mounting-hole pattern and measurements before purchasing.
Not sure if it will fit? Take clear photos of the underside of your boat seat, measure the mounting-hole spacing, and note which Oceansouth pedestal, swivel or slider you're considering. Email this information to sales@oceansouth.com.au and our team can check the compatibility for you.
Can a seat box be installed in my boat?
Yes! Oceansouth Seat Boxes can be installed in suitable boats, provided you have enough deck space and the correct installed height for your seating position.
Before purchasing, check the Seat Box dimensions on the product page and measure the area of your boat where you intend to install it.
Pay particular attention to the overall sitting height. Remember that the final height will include the Seat Box + any pedestal, swivel or slider + the height of your boat seat.
If the seat will be used at the helm, make sure the finished height gives you comfortable access to the steering wheel, throttle and controls, while also providing suitable visibility over the windscreen or console.
We recommend physically marking or measuring the proposed height and footprint inside your boat before ordering. This gives you a much better idea of how the complete setup will feel once installed.
For installation, follow our step-by-step video:
Important: Before drilling or mounting, make sure the installation area is suitable and check underneath the deck for wiring, fuel tanks, plumbing or other components that could be damaged.

If you're comparing prices, always check the exact SKU and variant, as similar-looking products or different sizes may have different prices.
When will an out-of-stock item be available?
If a product is currently unavailable, first make sure you have selected the exact size, colour or model variant you require, as stock availability can differ between variants.
When the selected product is out of stock, a “Get notified when this is back in stock” option will appear on the product page. Enter your email address and you'll be notified when that item becomes available again.
If you'd like an estimated restock date, email sales@oceansouth.com.au with the product part number/SKU you're looking for. Our team can check the latest information and provide an estimated arrival date where available.
Please keep in mind that restock dates are estimates and can change, particularly where incoming stock is dependent on manufacturing or freight schedules.
Where can I buy Oceansouth products?
Oceansouth products can be purchased directly from the Oceansouth Australia website or through our network of marine retailers and dealers across Australia.
To find a retailer near you, use our Store Locator:
https://oceansouth.com/en-au/pages/store-locator

Alternatively, you can purchase directly through the Oceansouth website, where you can view our broader product range, current stock availability and available variants.
Can I cancel an order before dispatch?
Possibly, provided the order has not already been packed or dispatched.
Oceansouth orders are processed quickly, so if you need to cancel, please email sales@oceansouth.com.au as soon as possible with your order number and clearly state that you would like to cancel the order.
If the order is still being processed and has not been packed or dispatched, our team can check whether the cancellation can be completed.
If the order has already been packed, collected by the courier or dispatched, we may no longer be able to stop it. In this situation, you'll need to receive the parcel and follow our normal returns and change-of-mind conditions if you no longer require the product.
Important: Sending a cancellation request does not automatically mean the order has been cancelled. Please wait for confirmation from our team, as the warehouse may already be processing your order by the time your request is received.
What if I receive the wrong item?
If you've received an item that is different from what you ordered, please email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your order number and clear photos showing:
- The item you received
- The product label, SKU or part number
- The packaging, where applicable
Our team will compare the item received with your original order and, once confirmed, arrange for the correct item to be sent to you as soon as possible.
We'll also organise the return of the incorrectly supplied item. Depending on the product and your location, we'll either provide a prepaid return shipping label or arrange a courier collection, at no additional cost to you.
Please keep the incorrect item and its original packaging in good condition while we arrange the return, and do not write directly on the product packaging.
If we have made an error with your order, you will not be responsible for the return freight costs.
Do you offer trade pricing?
Oceansouth offers trade pricing for marine businesses.
To apply for a trade account, simply email sales@oceansouth.com.au and request a trade application.

If your parcel is delayed, missing or marked as delivered but cannot be located, please email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your order number.
We'll review your order and tracking information and, where appropriate, launch an investigation with the courier. If the parcel cannot be located, we may arrange a replacement, subject to the outcome of the investigation and our assessment.
Can you deliver to a PO Box or Parcel Locker?
Yes, for some orders, but not all products can be delivered to a PO Box or Parcel Locker.
Large or bulky cartons that exceed Australia Post's 105 cm size limit cannot be sent to a PO Box, Parcel Locker or Locked Bag. These orders require a physical street address so they can be delivered by a suitable courier.
Even if you enter a PO Box or Parcel Locker at checkout, we may contact you after your order is placed if:
- The parcel is too large for Australia Post
- The product needs to be sent by a courier that cannot deliver to PO Boxes or Parcel Lockers
- Australia Post is significantly more expensive than an available courier service for that particular parcel
In these situations, we'll ask you to provide a suitable physical delivery address before we can dispatch your order.
For larger Oceansouth products such as Biminis, T-Tops, or other bulky items, we recommend providing a residential or business street address at checkout wherever possible to avoid delays.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery times depend on your location, parcel size and the courier delivering your order.
As a general guide, estimated delivery times within Australia are:
- Metro areas: Approximately 1–3 business days.
- Regional and rural areas: Approximately 3–10 business days.
Please note that these are estimates and delivery times are calculated from the date your order is dispatched, not the date you place your order.
Once your order has been dispatched, you'll receive a tracking link that allows you to follow your parcel and view its estimated delivery date.
Need a more accurate delivery estimate?
Email sales@oceansouth.com.au with the product you're interested in and your delivery postcode. Our team can provide a more accurate estimated delivery timeframe before you place your order.
How much is shipping in Australia?
Shipping is calculated for the delivery address and item at checkout. Most products over $75 ship free to Australian metro areas, but bulky products, remote destinations and islands can incur a displayed surcharge.
What happens if I entered the wrong address?
If you've entered an incorrect delivery address, check your order confirmation and contact us as soon as possible at sales@oceansouth.com.au.
If your order has already been dispatched and you've received a tracking number, you'll need to contact the courier directly. Provide your tracking number and request a delivery address change or redirection.
Important: Address changes are subject to the courier's approval and cannot be guaranteed once your parcel has been dispatched.
Customers are responsible for ensuring their delivery details are correct when placing an order. If a parcel is delivered to an incorrect address provided at checkout, Oceansouth cannot take responsibility for the delivery or arrange a free replacement or reshipment.
We strongly recommend checking your delivery address carefully before completing your purchase.
Why is there a delivery surcharge at checkout?
Large or heavy items, including some marine furniture and boat seat boxes, can incur a bulky-item fee.
Please be aware that some remote locations and islands may not be covered by standard delivery services and additional shipping charges may apply. If this occurs, we will contact you to inform you of any additional costs.
Is shipping free on orders over $75?
Most Oceansouth products over $75 qualify for free metro delivery in Australia. Bulky items and remote or island locations can have extra charges, shown at checkout when applicable.
Can I request urgent delivery?
Yes! If you need your order urgently, you can add a note at checkout requesting Direct Freight Express or Express Post. Additional freight charges may apply depending on the product, parcel size and destination.
For urgent orders, we always recommend emailing sales@oceansouth.com.au with the product you require, your delivery postcode and the date you need it by. Our team can check the available freight options and provide a more accurate indication of whether delivery within your required timeframe is possible.
Please note: All transit times are estimates. Once your order has been dispatched, use the carrier tracking information for the latest estimated delivery date. We recommend not relying on a specific arrival date until it has been confirmed by the carrier.
Can my parcel be left at the door?
Yes! If the courier determines there is a safe and secure place at your delivery address, they may leave your parcel there.
If you would like the courier to leave your parcel in a specific location, such as behind a gate or near a side door, please add these instructions in the order notes section at checkout.
If you would prefer the parcel not to be left unattended and require a signature on delivery, please also specify this in your order notes when checking out.
Please note: Final delivery and safe-drop decisions are made by the courier based on access, safety and their delivery procedures.
Do you ship to regional areas or islands?
Yes! We ship to regional and remote areas throughout Australia, including many island locations.
Please note that additional freight charges may apply depending on your location, parcel size and the courier services available in your area.
For larger or bulky products that cannot be sent with Australia Post, freight to very remote locations or islands can sometimes cost hundreds of dollars. If additional freight is required, our team will contact you before dispatch.
For a more accurate freight estimate before ordering, email sales@oceansouth.com.au with the product you require and your delivery postcode and our team can check the available options.
Please note: Our Australian store currently ships within Australia only and does not offer international shipping.
Returns and warranty
What warranty comes with Oceansouth products?
Oceansouth products are covered by a one-year manufacturer's warranty, the warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship under normal use. If you believe your product has a manufacturing fault, please keep your proof of purchase and take clear photos showing the product, the fault and, where relevant, how the product has been installed or used.
The manufacturer's warranty does not cover general wear and tear, accidental damage, improper use, incorrect installation, damage caused by rubbing against sharp or protruding fittings, or damage caused by modifying the product. Modifications to the original product may void the manufacturer's warranty.
If a product is found to have a manufacturing defect under normal use, Oceansouth will assess the claim and, where applicable, repair or replace the defective product in accordance with the warranty conditions.
If you purchased directly from Oceansouth, email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your order number, photos and a description of the issue.
If you purchased through an Oceansouth dealer or retailer, your original sales transaction is with that retailer, so please contact them first with your proof of purchase to begin the warranty process.
Can I get a replacement part instead of a whole product?
Yes! We offer replacement fabrics, frames and fittings for selected Oceansouth product ranges.
To enquire about spare parts, locate your product's SKU and email sales@oceansouth.com.au, specifying which replacement part you require.
Our team will send you a spare parts diagram or product list so you can identify and circle the exact parts you need.
Once you've confirmed the required parts, we'll provide a sales quote. Following payment, we'll arrange for your spare parts to be dispatched, subject to availability.
What do I need for a warranty claim?
All Oceansouth products come with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty. To make a warranty claim, please email sales@oceansouth.com.au with a dated proof of purchase and images of the damaged or faulty item.
Please note, any modifications made by the customer to our product will void the warranty. Additionally, general wear and tear over time is not covered under the warranty.
Oceansouth will repair or replace products or parts that are found to be defective due to faulty materials or workmanship under normal use and maintenance. Warranty claims resulting from improper use will not be accepted.

Can I drop off a return?
Yes, you can drop off an approved return directly to our Braeside warehouse provided you follow the below instructions.
As we are a warehouse rather than a retail store, please email sales@oceansouth.com.au beforehand with the day and approximate time you plan to drop off your return, so our team knows to expect you.
Please ensure the product is securely packed, unused, undamaged and in as-new, resaleable condition. Include a note inside the package with your name, order number and whether you are requesting refund. Please do not write directly on the original product packaging.
Returns can be dropped off at:
Oceansouth Australia
1–3 Urban Street
Braeside VIC 3195
Once the item has been received and inspected, our team will process the return in accordance with our return policy.
Can I return an item bought from a dealer?
If you purchased an Oceansouth product from a dealer, retailer or another online store, your purchase and payment were made with that business. You will therefore need to contact the retailer you purchased the product from to arrange any return, exchange or refund.
Oceansouth cannot directly process a refund or exchange for a dealer purchase because we did not take the original transaction or payment. Make sure you keep your receipt or other proof of purchase, as the retailer may require this when processing your request.
If your enquiry relates to a manufacturing fault or warranty issue, you should still contact the retailer you purchased from in the first instance. Oceansouth's current manufacturer warranty information is also available on our website.
This is also one of the benefits of purchasing directly from Oceansouth. When you order from us, you're dealing directly with the manufacturer and the team behind the products, so product advice, returns, exchanges, spare parts and after-sales enquiries can all be handled directly with our team rather than through a third-party retailer.
Is wear caused by rubbing or a propeller covered by warranty?
Generally, wear caused by rubbing, chafing or contact with sharp or protruding parts is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Our manufacturer's warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship that occur under normal use. It does not cover general wear and tear, improper use, accidental damage or damage caused by the cover repeatedly rubbing against sharp or abrasive surfaces.
To help prevent this type of damage, we recommend adding extra protection to high-stress and contact areas. Foam, additional fabric or even a cut section of pool noodle can be used to cushion sharp or protruding areas and reduce rubbing against the cover.
It is also important to keep the cover properly fitted and tensioned, particularly when trailering, as loose fabric can flap and repeatedly rub against fittings.
If you're unsure whether the damage is related to wear or a manufacturing fault, email sales@oceansouth.com.au with your proof of purchase and clear photos showing:
- The damaged area
- The complete product or cover
- How the product is fitted or installed
- The fitting, accessory or surface underneath the damaged area
Our team can then assess the circumstances and determine whether the issue falls within the manufacturer's warranty.
Does waterproofing spray affect the cover warranty?
Using a waterproofing spray on your Oceansouth cover is generally fine, provided you use a reputable marine-grade product specifically designed for polyester or marine canvas.
Before applying any treatment, check that the product is compatible with your cover's fabric and existing coating. We recommend choosing an established marine product with clear manufacturer instructions and strong independent reviews rather than using an unknown or general-purpose waterproofing spray.
Always follow the waterproofing product manufacturer's application instructions and test it on a small, inconspicuous area first.
Oceansouth covers already use water-resistant marine-grade fabric, so additional waterproofing should not normally be required when the cover is new.
Important: Oceansouth's warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper use, and customer modifications can void the warranty. If a spray, chemical or treatment damages or alters the fabric or its protective coating, that damage may therefore not be covered.
If you're unsure about a particular waterproofing product, email sales@oceansouth.com.au with the product details before applying it.
